The Basics
What should I bring? Water, electrolytes, snacks, extra towels and maybe a folding chair.
What if I need to arrive late / leave early? Let us know in the coaches note.
No more food trucks. This year meets will have concessions but no food trucks so pack extra food for kids and spouses. Our team usually heads out eat after the meet, but that's quite late.
Kids at meets? Fun relays? Event #1 is a multigen relay that runs as many legs as we have kids + parents. Most meets have space for kids to swim during meets.
Meet Signup
How to sign up? Go to Meet Signup and click the green button.
How many events? Max of 4 individual + 1 relay or 3 individual + 2 relays. (Please only pick 3 to make relays easier!)
Which events should I pick? New-to-swim: maybe 25 free, 25 back & 50 free? If you can, pick an event with butterfly. If you're not quite sure or if you're open to anything, leave us some info in the "Notes to coach" section. We're usually looking to balance out our entries.
Will I be on a relay? In the coach's note, let us know if you're pro- or anti-relay. We'll try to field as many swimmers as possible on relays. (New swimmers, we will have a practice before the first meet focused on meet relays.)
How long are the meets? (alt title: How many snacks should I bring?) Ideally they run around 2 hours. Usually there's some sort of delay.
Swim Meet Formats + Scoring
As always, our meets will begin with the mixed generation relay (not scored). New for 2025 meets will feature the following events:
- 4x50 Medley Relays
- 25 Free / 25 Back / 25 Breast / 25 Fly
- 100 Free
- Mixed Free Relay
- 100 IM
- 50 Free / 50 Back / 50 Breast / 50 Fly
- 4x50 Free Relays
Meet Scoring: For those new to swim scoring, know that you will almost always add to our team score (especially if you are over age 50!) and there’s zero chance you reduce team points.
Age Groups: The age groups: 18-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69 etc. Swimmers are seeded in heats by age from oldest swimmers to youngest.
Relays: All meets begin with a fun all ages relay that incorporates children. The next relay is an age group 200 Medley. Four swimmers each swim 50 yards of one stroke (Back/ Breast/ Fly/ Free). In the middle of the meet we have mixed relays (200 Freestyle) although this may be swapped out for some meets for something silly. All Meets end with an age group 200 Freestyle relay (4x50). The first and last relays are scored for points based on the age of the youngest member of relay.
